Dear <%NAME%>, hope you've had a great month!
For the past 2 months we've been talking about
setting and completing goals. Goal completion is an integral part of
life. So many things are goals, from the smallest to the largest. We
know how to get small goals done but it's "big" ones that many people
fear.
We spoke about writing down goals and how to
do that more effectively. We spoke about taking small action steps in
order to get your momentum going to get to the "finish line" so that
you can complete your goal. Today we talk about keeping the momentum
going.
"Eventually, the train
will push itself!"
Long before I got into hypnosis I began to do
Iridology. Iridology is a way of discovering the weaknesses a body has by
looking into the iris (colorful part of your eye). I had a friend that
gave me an analogy. He told me that a train is very hard to push.
Let's say you could move a train, the initial push would be really hard.
It would take a lot of muscle power and effort in order to move that huge monstrosity
and it would only move slightly. The more you push, the more your
sweat. If you look at how much you've pushed at the beginning, you may
believe that your efforts are in vain and you may even want to give up. As
you push more, it moves faster and eventually other people see that you are
pushing. They join in and with combined efforts, the train moves faster
and faster. Soon you find that your train is progressively moving forward,
but you are not working nearly as much as you were before. There will come
a time that the train is moving so fast that you will have to jump on to stay
with it...and no longer push.
This is how it is with your goals. At
the beginning, things may seem to move slowly but as your efforts grow, so does
your level of success. The process of attaining your goals is a growth
process on its own. There is much to be learned along the way and part of
the focus should be on enjoying the process. As a child I would get to
impatient on wanting to finish, but once you are finished, your finished!
There's a lot of fun to have even while you are in the creative processes of
your goal.
Never Give Up!
Here is a a lesson that I will never
forget. It comes from Tony Robbins. Despite what many say about him,
he is a man that I truly admire because of his wisdom. He said: "the
past does not equal the present or future." In other words, if you
didn't succeed in the past at something, then don't believe that you are not
going to succeed right now or later on in something. Even if you
"failed" (using this word loosely) at something two minutes ago does
not mean that you will again now. Anyone who's played shooting a
basket or tried to cook something knows that. If you didn't make the
basket in the last throw, it means nothing. If the rice didn't come out
good the last time, you don't stop cooking rice forever. You do it again
because each time it gets better until you're a pro. So never give up on
your goals. Because the only one that really fails is the one that gives
up.
Lack of results in any goal may make some
people want to give up. Results come with time. How much?
Maybe a little, maybe a lot. Either way, the learning process is great.
Edison never gave up when his bulb didn't light up...he just said "I found
999 ways to not do it." Sylvester Stallone was turned down 1000 times
for a movie you may know quite well. The guy that finally said YES to him
said "I'll take your movie, but you can't be in it." How's that
for a motivation knocker? He never gave up and sure enough he was yelling
for ADRIAN at the end of Rocky and just recently doing it again at 60
years old. It was said that the first Rocky made Stallone $23,000 but
Rocky V made him $25,000,000. The price for not giving up.
What if you don't get
respect?
Jacob Cohen struggled financially for 9 years,
was fired from his singing waiter job, sold aluminum siding to support his
family and was rejected by audiences as a stand up comic. He didn't let
this stop him though because he used the rejection to his advantage saying that
he got no respect. Jacob said "as a child I played hide and seek and
they wouldn't even look for me." This guy became so popular that HBO
brought him to our TV screens at home with a show in the big apple that helped
popularize stand-ups like Jerry Seinfield, Tim Alen, Roseanne Barr, Jim Carrey,
Sam Kinison and more. Who is he? If you haven't guessed yet Rodney
Dangerfield. and that's "the rest of the story."
Keep the momentum of your goals going by
reading inspiring stories and inspiring yourself. Do a little each day to
work toward your goal. Know that whatever ups and downs that come with
completing a goal is just part of the process and know that the only failure is
giving up and if you ever gave up on a goal, you can always pick up where you
left off...the goal doesn't care.
Please let me know if this
information has inspiried you in any way.
With love and respect.
